'Targeting' Houston: New Target To Anchor Grand Parkway Center
Target has finally announced a new store in Houston. (We've been waiting for this since October, and the market's been bemoaning the lack of new Targets for years.) A 126k SF Target will open in March 2017 as a key element in Kimco's 400k SF Grand Parkway Marketplace being built along the Grand Parkway at Spring Stuebner and Kuhkendahl. Kimco bought 64 acres at the intersection in January, and sold 9.2 acres to Target, the Houston Business Journal reports. Site work is already underway.
Kimco's also building six to eight junior anchors and a restaurant village of sorts with a boardwalk, wet detention pond, and four to six restaurants. Pulling it all together: EMJ Construction as GC, Levinson Alcoser Associates as architect, and Brown & Gay as civil engineer.
Houston's one of seven cities around the country getting new Target stores next year, including Chicago, Minneapolis and Los Angeles. [HBJ]
