Durst Family

The Durst family owns many noteworthy properties in NYC, including a 10% stake in One World Trade Center, the Bank of America Tower, and the Conde Nast Building. They bought their first property in 1915, but officially started the family business in 1927. Anticipating demand on Manhattan’s Third and Sixth avenues, the family, now in its third generation, started acquiring parcels for development.

In addition to real estate, the family helped start the New York City Job and Career Center and installed the National Debt Clock. Trouble plagued the family in 2015, when Robert Durst, long suspected in the disappearance of his first wife, was arrested in New Orleans.
