Iranian-born Nourollah Elghanayan began buying land in Manhattan in the 1950s and 1960s, including the famous Fairfax apartment block, which was originally an FBI HQ.
Nourollah’s sons—Henry, Tom and Fred—have expanded the family's real estate empire throughout Manhattan, Queens before having a succession disagreement, which split the company’s assets in 2009. According to rumor, the holdings were divided by a coin toss: Henry got the Rockrose name and most of the family's development and residential sites, which he runs with his son Justin. Tom and Fred, on the other hand, founded TF Cornerstone, which has expanded their Manhattan holdings in to Long Island City and Washington, DC.
