George Marcus

The founder of Marcus & Millichap and its chairman since 1971, George Marcus and his partner, William Millichap, helped a real estate investment business model that matched each property with the largest pool of pre-qualified investors.

Today, Marcus & Millichap oversees a diversified group of real estate, service, investment and development firms. George is chairman of Essex Property Trust, a publicly-held multifamily REIT and was one of the original founders and directors of two publicly traded financial institutions: Plaza Commerce Bank and Greater Bay Bancorp, the latter of which he still serves on the board of directors.
