Hamilton “Tony” James helped build Blackstone into the largest buyout firm on earth. Tony went to Harvard College for his Bachelors and then immediately into its MBA program because he applied to 300 jobs as a junior and got no offers.
After he graduated in 1975, he went to Wall Street to work at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in investment banking. There, Tony started distinguishing himself as an investment banker with unparalleled talent and business acumen. Tony also serves as the director of Costco Wholesale Corporation and as a commissioner of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He’s a trustee on many different philanthropic and artistic boards, including the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
