Jerry Jones made enough money in oil and gas to buy the Dallas Cowboys for $140M in 1989. The deal worked out for Jones: The Cowboys are now the most valuable sports franchise in the world and are worth about $4B.
Jones’ development firm, Blue Star, is developing an 1,800-home residential community in the aptly named suburb of Prosper, Texas, north of Dallas. The project will cost about $700M.
In nearby Frisco, Jones is partnering with former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach to develop a team headquarters and practice facility. It will be the centerpiece of The Star, a $1.5B retail, office, residential and hotel complex and include Frisco’s first high-rise building, a 17-story luxury apartment tower. — Scott Klocksin
