Canadian-born Mort Zuckerman co-founded Boston Properties in 1970 and leads the REIT, which has a portfolio focused on Class-A office concentrated in Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco and the Washington, D.C. area.
His career was launched at the Boston real estate firm Cabot, Cabot & Forbes, where he rose through the ranks to become chief financial officer. Zuckerman is also known as a media mogul. He bought the New York Daily News in 1993, and owned it up until September, when he sold it and its valuable real estate in New Jersey to newspaper company Tronc in exchange for getting out of the paper’s debt obligations. — Scott Klocksin
