Megadevelopment At Silvertown Gets Go-Ahead
A new megadevelopment will soon occupy the derelict industrial site at Silvertown, now that The Greater London Authority and the Silvertown Partnership have the go-ahead from the London Borough of Newham. The approval paves the way for 3,000 new homes to be built, nearly half of which will be affordable.
New residential communities at Silvertown will be built alongside more than 50 commercial buildings for offices and showrooms, creating more than 21,000 new jobs, alongside new parks, schools and health facilities that are accessible to all.
Silvertown is the largest site in London’s Royal Docks, an area that is seeing £6B of investment, creating more than 15,000 new homes and 60,000 new jobs. Work has already started on-site at Silvertown with the renovation of the iconic 1930s Millennium Mills building that will become a home for pioneering businesses to grow.
