Luxury Retirement Complex Will Be Built Across From Harrods
Singapore-based City Developments scored permission to build a luxury retirement complex in Knightsbridge opposite Harrods department store. The seven-storey building will feature a medical centre, restaurants, library, spa and landscaped garden, along with 34 assisted living flats, according to the BBC.
The complex will be available to the over-55 crowd and may appeal to downsizers and people who need some help around the house but don’t want to go into a care home. Unit prices have not yet been revealed, but being Knightsbridge, it won’t be cheap. The BBC reports homes in the area regularly sell for £4k/SF, which means the smallest flats would have a price tag of about £5M.
The new C-shaped building will curve around a landscaped courtyard. The site has been a car park for the last 40 years. [BBC]
