Westminster Fire House Transformation Given Green Light
Developer Alchemi Group snagged planning approval for its restoration of the Grade II listed Westminster Fire Station in Victoria, PrimeResi reports. The former fire station, built in 1906, was empty for several years before Alchemi bought the site from London Fire Brigade in July 2016.
The new scheme will “preserve and enhance the character and appearance of the listed property,” according to Openstudio Architect’s design plan, and will deliver 17 apartments, a restaurant and a garden courtyard across two buildings.
Plans call for the demolition of the modern rear building, and a hand-made brick building to be erected in its place. Groundbreaking is set for February 2017 and completion is slated for October 2018. [PR]
