Google Launches New YouTube Space At Kings Cross
Google celebrated the opening of the new YouTube studio at its London’s HQ in Kings Cross with a red carpet event starring YouTube stars.
The new 20k SF space is in an office accessed at street level and just across the road from St. Pancras International—home of the Eurostar that zips to Paris and other destinations in Europe. Post-Brexit, the lure of Europe might dim for Google and other companies that are moving into the area, according to Ars Technica.
Google’s previous YouTube studio, based in its Covent Garden offices, now shut, was only 3.5k SF and run by three staffers. Google has beefed up its YouTube staff to about 20 to help creators produce professional-level videos with studios and sound stages, 360-degree cameras, VR gear and 4K screening.
The new space will also feature a store where fans can buy merch featuring some of the service’s video stars. [AT]
