The Future Is Hybrid
It is quickly becoming apparent that for both companies and workers, hybrid work is the most popular option and is becoming the dominant work model. Stanford University economics professor Nick Bloom runs a monthly survey of more than 5,000 U.S. workers and 500 U.S. employers. Hybrid is king right now, Bloom and colleagues Jose Maria Barrero and Steven J. Davis wrote in the Harvard Business Review recently. “An emerging norm is three days a week in the office and two at home, cutting days on site by 30% or more,” they said.
What isn’t clear is how companies will manage the transition to hybrid work and what that means for the role of the office.
One of the key questions is: If workers are only coming into the office three days a week, will companies cut the amount of space they need?
