While You Were Searching For Pokémon, Pokémon Was Searching For Office Space
The Pokémon Co is looking to ditch its 10k SF at Building 4 in CIC’s Chiswick Park for new office space. The company plans to more than double its footprint to 25k SF. The search is focused on West London, according to Property Week, and is being handled by agent Frost Meadowcroft.
The expansion comes after the Pokémon Go craze raised about £190M and brought benefits to commercial property all over the world.
Hammerson saw an uptick in footfall since it launched portable phone chargers in its shopping centres, and Canary Wharf got in on the game by offering maps and prizes to players.
Property Week reports CBRE GI engages in monthly "Pokémon Wednesday" at its Ashley Centre in Epsom, and Whitbread’s Costa Coffee chain has reported a 30% increase in footfall for the first week after the game was released in the UK, as players were drawn in by its free WiFi. [PW]
