It's no secret homelessness is a major problem in LA, but the LA County Board of Supervisors aims to do something about it.

The board voted 3-0 Tuesday in favor of LA's Proposition H property tax bond measure.

If passed in November, it should raise around $1.2B to build supportive housing for the homeless.

Proposition H would allow for a new property tax on commercial and residential properties in LA, according to the LA Daily News.

LA Mayor Eric Garcetti was at the meeting to show support for addressing the issue of homelessness.

While 10,000 homes would be constructed if the measure passes, it does not include any provisions to deal with services for those facing mental illness or drug abuse.

The measure would need to pass by a two-thirds margin. [LADN]
