National Public Radio's Culver City Office Up For Sale
National Public Radio's Culver City home of more than 20 years is on the market, Bisnow has confirmed.
The radio station operates out of roughly 25K SF at the two-building, 40K SF creative office campus at 9905 and 9909 Jefferson Blvd.
Marketing materials for the property obtained by Bisnow refer to an owner-user that will vacate after a sale closes. NPR purchased the property in 2002, the Los Angeles Business Journal reported at the time.
"No decisions about relocating the NPR West office/studios in Culver City have been made yet, we are exploring options," NPR Chief Communications Officer Isabel Lara told Bisnow in an email.
NPR rents out the approximately 15K SF second building to a production company, according to the marketing materials. That tenant's lease runs through September 2026.
NPR reduced its overall staff by 10% last year through a series of layoffs. It was unclear how many Culver City-based employees were laid off or whether those reductions meant the radio station needed less space there.
The brochure says the buildings have brick walls and bow and truss ceilings, and the NPR building has recording rooms and studio space. A Cushman & Wakefield team led by Mike Condon Jr. is marketing the property.
Culver City has some big-name tenants in media and tech, including Amazon, TikTok parent ByteDance, Apple and HBO. However, office vacancy in Culver City sat at 30.4% in the third quarter, according to C&W. That puts it on par with the Downtown LA central business district, according to the firm.
