Marty Pupil's New Role at Colliers
Marty Pupil, who's led Colliers International's rapid growth in SoCal as regional managing director for Greater LA, has a new role: president of the Southwest Region, the firm's single most-populous region. We dropped by to chat about his new job.
The newly created position gives him oversight for all of Colliers' commercial brokerage operations in California and Arizona. A key focus: a more effective client relationship strategy to help folks understand the firm's integrated platform throughout the region. He also continues to oversee GreaterLAwith support from managing directors Hans Mumper and John Hollingsworth. Another majorpriority: expanding the West LA office. Marty was responsible for integrating the venerable Seeley Co into Colliers' national platform, which catapulted the firm into a major player here.
In January, Marty moderated our LA State of the Market Summit, where we snapped him with DTZ's Jeffrey Morgan. A real estate and construction lawyer before getting into the CRE biz, Martyjoined Colliers in 2004 as EVP and GM in Montreal. If you guessedhe moved here for the milder winters, you wouldn't be too far off: When Marty and his wife made the decision to give SoCal a try, it was February and 40 degrees below zero in Montreal. Speaking of warmer climates, he just got back from a trip to Panama with Colliers' logistics and transportation group, where they had a great time meeting with state officials, learningaboutthe Panama Canal project, and having a few mojitos with clients.
