Carl Muhlstein Leaves JLL To Start Own Boutique Firm
Carl Muhlstein, international director at JLL, has departed the firm to start his own boutique shop.
Muhlstein's new venture, MuhlsteinCRE, opened this month and will specialize in consulting on capital markets, leasing and development, especially "complex operating assets" such as soundstages and public-private partnerships, Commercial Observer reported.
“JLL is a great platform. … I’m proud of the legacy of people who I helped develop,” Muhlstein told CO. “Part of [founding MuhlsteinCRE] comes from my stage in life, but I also think 2024 and 2025 will be great reset years that will need this type of expertise.”
Muhlstein has more than three decades of CRE experience and had served as JLL's international director for over a decade, leading a slew of significant sales during that time.
Muhlstein is known especially for studio leasing and entertainment and media deals. He co-brokered the 2021 sale of CBS Studio Center to Hackman Capital Partners and Square Mile Capital for nearly $2B, worked on sales and leasing of major studios such as CBS Radford and Burbank Studios, and represented landlords on leases such as Netflix, Google and YouTube Studios, CO reported.
