How Downtown Is Creating Its Own Lifestyle Brand
The hundreds of commercial real estate professionals who joined us last week for Bisnow's LA State of the Market heard about new developments being built downtown and the increasing opportunities downtown LA has to offer.
The panelists told the more than 660 people in the crowd of some of the projects downtown, including the Park Fifth site being built near Pershing Square; Wilshire Grand, which will consist of a 900-room hotel, a 24-hour restaurant and a five-diamond steakhouse when it opens; and a W Hotel being built near LA Live.
Our panelists were Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide VP Tiffany Cooper; AC Martin CEO Chris Martin; MacFarlane Partners managing director Jeff Berris; Majestic Hospitality CEO Christopher Henry; and Loeb & Loeb LA real estate chair Allan Abshez.
Chris says it has been amazing to watch the transformation of downtown over a decade. He said the area has become a hotbed of new, urban professionals.
Jeff says downtown's brand is morphing and changing. Downtown also has so many distinguishable neighborhoods blossoming, from the LA Arts District to Little Tokyo to South Park and the financial core.
Tiffany spoke about the new W Hotel headed for downtown and its phenomenal opportunity to be across from LA Live.
Christopher says LA is a prime area for curating dynamic and authentic experiences. While agreeing that downtown, in particular, is also developing its own brand, it has become an area where he and his friends enjoy hanging out, he says.
