Last Night at Redbird
Feeling pretty au courant at the hottest new dining spot in town, we snapped restaurant superlawyer Sandy Mallory and celebrity chef co-owner Neal Fraser sandwiching Allen Matkins institution Rick Mallory. Don’t know Redbird? Only a joint on East 2nd in downtown that LA Times critic Jonathan Gold calls the most anticipated LA restaurant of the decade. Partly because the former cathedral rectory took so long to entitle for development—but lease maven Sandy eventually swooped in and helped speed things up.
As for Rick, he had just swooped in yesterday from three days prowling the expo halls and evening parties at ICSC, but was just enjoying a brief respite. Today he’s already off to San Fran for the Giants/Dodgers match his colleague Tony Natsis hosts annually for 50 clients. But he needs exercise running through airports after all that food—these were just the appetizers. (OK, we might have given him a little help devouring it.)
