Kaiser Permanente's Expansion Plans
Oakland-based Kaiser Permanente is submitting an environmental review to expand its Los Angeles Medical Center in East Hollywood.
The healthcare provider plans to add new buildings and demolish about 215K SF at its 15-acre campus on Sunset Boulevard between Vermont and Alexandria avenues, Urbanize LA reports.
The development will be built in three phases.
Perkins+Will is designing the project, which would consist of more than 425K SF of new medical facilities and 655K SF of parking.
Phase 1 of the project would include building a nine-story, 129-foot-tall building that would include 128,500 SF of office and a 582-car parking garage at 1317-1345 North Vermont Ave. and an adjoining lot at 1328 North New Hampshire Ave.
At the same time, construction would begin on a four-story, 50K SF procedure center, a gastrointestinal clinic and a procedural lab at 4760 Sunset Blvd.
Phase 2 would include a new, 10-story garage for 636 vehicles with 2,300 SF of ground-floor commercial space at 1517 North Vermont Ave.
A new, seven-story, 132K SF medical office building would also be built at 1526 North Edgemont St.
Lastly, an eight-story, 200-stall parking garage would be built at 1424-1430 North Alexandria Ave. (Site 6), and a new medical office building would be constructed at 1505 North Edgemont St.
Kaiser's expansion on Sunset will be done before the 2030 deadline for a state law requiring the replacement of old facilities.
