AEG Drops Marriott Expansion Plans
After officially filing plans earlier this year for its $500M expansion of the JW Marriott at LA Live, AEG is now saying the plans are a no-go.
AEG apparently was turned off by the City of LA's plans to build a 1,000-room hotel at the LA Convention Center.
The new plans compete with AEG's, which included a 755-key hotel on Olympic Boulevard. The expansion was announced last year.
In a letter to LA City Attorney Mike Feuer, AEG vice chairman Ted Fikre said a second convention hotel "was not a part of the deal when the city insisted that AEG build a convention headquarters hotel," according to the LA Times. [LAT]
