Santa Monica Professional Building To Be Transformed Into A Hotel Complex

An approximately $11M restoration project is underway to renovate the Santa Monica Professional building and make it part of a mixed-use hotel.

The Spanish Colonial Revival building at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Seventh Street has been used in the past for medical purposes and offices.

The building, originally built in 1928, will be refurbished and brought up to code, then paired with a new building to create the hotel, according to Curbed.

The complex will have 270 hotel rooms and suites, 13k SF of retail and restaurant space, and 6k SF of meeting rooms.

Howard Laks Architects is designing the project, which Alex Gorby is developing.

Construction is scheduled to begin in August. The hotel is expected to open by fall 2018. [Curbed]
