SBE Expands Into Middle East, Latin America
Hotel management company SBE Entertainment Group is expanding in Latin America and the Middle East, with plans to double its portfolio to 50 hotels and residences, in addition to adding 24 restaurants and lounges by 2021.
The company acquired Morgans Hotel Group last year, and founder Sam Nazarian plans to grow the company even more, according to USA Today.
“We have a robust pipeline,” Nazarian told USA Today. “Our goal is very clear. We want to get 50 hotels open by 2021, which is a big feat for a small lifestyle company. And within those hotels we are going to be putting in all of our restaurants and lounges. It’s a multiplication effect.”
Most of the projects are management or licensing agreements, the LA Times reports.
The company has opened a 270-room Mondrain hotel in Doha, Quatar, its first property in the Middle East, and will manage a 200-room SLS Doha delivering in 2020 that includes 100 residences, 50 apartments and three restaurants. It will open two new properties in Dubai in 2018 and 2019.
Another SLS hotel is planned for Mexico City in 2021, as are condominiums in Buenos Aires and Uruguay. In November, the company will open an SLS hotel, retail, casino and dining project at Baha Mar in the Bahamas.
In the U.S., SBE continues to grow with plans to manage an Originals in Los Angeles, an SLS Lux Brickell in Miami, SLS Hotel & Residences Philadelphia, SLS Atlanta and SLS Washington D.C.
The company also will open 10 Umami Burger restaurants in Mexico and is in discussions to bring the brand to the Middle East.
