Argentinean Hotel Operator Entering LA Market
The long-delayed restoration and modernization of two historic hotels, the 1914 Embassy Hotel/Trinity Auditorium at 831 S Grand Ave and 1912 Hotel Clark at 426 S Hill St in Pershing Square, is underway.
These historic gems will reopen next year as boutique hotels under the Argentinean flag Fén Hotels, which is introducing its two brands, Dazzler and Esplendor, to the LA market. Both structures have been vacant since the NY-based Chetrit Group acquired them 10 years ago.
The beautiful, eight-story Beaux-Arts Embassy/Trinity is being converted to a 183-room Esplendor Trinity. The renovation will add a 7,600 SF rooftop pool deck and bar, as well as a restaurant on the ground level with outdoor patio seating within a new private garden. Additionally, the structure’s original auditorium, which was the first home of the LA Philharmonic, is getting new seating and will become an entertainment venue. This hotel is scheduled to open in March or April 2016.
The 11-story Hotel Clark is being transformed to the 347-room Dazzler Clark and features a trendier, more modern look and feel than the Esplendor Trinity. The Dazzler Clark is scheduled to open in January or February 2016. [BY]
