$300M Project To Go Forward Near The Sunset Strip
Townscape Partners has gotten the go-ahead to build a $300M development at 8150 Sunset Blvd near the Sunset Strip, but the green light comes with conditions.
The LA City Planning Commission voted unanimously last week to approve the proposed mixed-use complex with 249 units and approximately 65k SF of retail space.
The project is being designed by Frank Gehry.
As part of the approval, the developer must set aside 15%, or around 37, of the apartments for affordable housing, according to Urbanize LA.
Townscape Partners had originally reserved 28 units for low-income families.
While Gehry has touted the project, area neighbors and LA City Councilman David Ryu, who reps the area, have objected to its size and height. Some of its buildings are slated to be 15 stories tall. [ULA]
