City Council Gives Thumbs Up To Sunset Strip Project
The Frank Gehry Sunset Strip project has been unanimously approved by the LA City Council.
The project at 8150 Sunset Blvd will consist of five buildings between Havenhurst Drive and Crescent Heights Boulevard near the Sunset Strip. There will also be around 60k SF of commercial space.
Townscape Partners agreed last week to reduce the number of housing units from 249 to 229 and increase the number of units set aside for low-income tenants to 38 from 28.
The developer made the concessions as a result of efforts made by LA City Councilman David Ryu.
The developer also will fork over $2M to help reduce traffic congestion by adding, among other things, new bus stops, Curbed reports.
The development would include residences and a bank, a public plaza and a restaurant.
The Planning Commission approved the project last July. [Curbed]
