Massive Hotel Mixed-Use Pitched Near Hollywood Blvd

Champion Real Estate has proposed a mixed-use project, consisting of two structures with residential, retail and hotel components, on W Yucca Street in Hollywood, just north of Hollywood Boulevard.

The environmental report, which was submitted to the LA Department of Planning, included a preliminary design (pictured) by the architect, Togawa Smith Martin. As proposed, this contemporary-style project, which rises 368 feet above a 12-story podium, requires the city to grant several discretionary approvals, including zoning and height-district changes.

Situated on a 1.16-acre site at 6220 W Yucca St, the 32-story residential tower includes 180 one- and two-bedroom apartments of about 1.1 SF on floors 13 through 30, and 12 suites, ranging in size from 1.95k SF to 2.1k SF, on the top two levels, according to Urbanize LA. The hotel, with 260 guest rooms and ancillary functions, is on floors 6 through 12.

Residents at 6220 Yucca would share hotel amenities and services, including a 10k SF rooftop garden, an outdoor pool deck, a 6.2k SF restaurant, and valet and doorman services, with hotel guests. The second structure, a six-story building at the corner of Yucca and Vista Del Mar, includes 11 one-bedroom units and a landscaped courtyard.

Champion also has two other, smaller mixed projects in the works further west in Hollywood near the Hollywood & Highland mall. A rash of hotels has been proposed in Hollywood over the last month, including a 16-story Kimpton by The Robert Green Co, a six-story Hyatt Houseby CIM Group and another six-story hotel six-story hotel by AJ Khair Development.
