5 of LA's Top Multifamily Brokers
We recently told you about four of the top office brokers in LA. In Part 2 of Bisnow's ongoing series, here's a look at five of the top multifamily brokers in the city.
1. Marc Renard
Title: Vice chairman, Cushman & Wakefield
Deal Volume: 27
Deal Value: $1.6B
Deal SF: 4.6M SF
Marc focuses on multifamily deals, in addition to office, retail and mixed-use investment sales. His top multifamily investment transaction in 2014 was Pacific Place, a 430-unit coastal building.
2. Brian Eisendrath
Title: Vice chairman, CBRE
Deal Volume: 60
Deal Value: $1.3B
Deal SF: 14k units
Brian (snapped with wife Tara and daughter Taylor) works heavily on the debt and structured finance market. Last year's top transactions include a $170M, 1,500-unit portfolio deal with TruAmerica and securing an $82M loan for the purchase of the Tresser Apartments in Stamford, CT.
3+4. Jim Fisher and Mike Smith
Title: Principals, Lee & Associates
Deal Volume: 8
Deal Value: $526M
Deal SF: 2,847 units
Jim (snapped here with his wife Denile in Hawaii earlier this year) and Mike made their year with one deal: The largest portfolio of multifamily properties to trade in SoCal in more than a decade, repping JH Real Estate Partners, the seller of a 14-property portfolio totaling 2,666 units at a value of $481M.
Here's Mike with wife Leah on a recent vacation in the south of France.
5. Kitty Wallace
Title: EVP, Colliers
Deal Volume: 44
Deal Value: $276M
Deal SF: 2M SF (plus 3.6M land for development)
Kitty, one of the most well-known brokers in the city (here with family), says her most interesting deal last year was the sale of Pine Lake Apartments, a 111-unit project in Garden Grove. She says the project was purchased by Pendo Investments for $2M above asking from Aimco. A true value-add for the buyer, Kitty says these are the hottest deals in the market.
