Robertson Lane Project Mostly Favorably Received By WeHo Committee

The Robertson Lane mixed-use project on Robertson Boulevard got a thumbs up recently at a meeting of the design review subcommittee of the West Hollywood Planning Commission from two out of three commissioners.

The development, at the corner of Robertson Boulevard and La Peer Drive, would consist of an eight-story hotel in two towers with 242 rooms. There would be a restaurant on the rooftop and a swimming pool, ground-level retail, an underground nightclub and 9K SF of meeting and event space, WeHoVille reports.

As part of the project, developer Jason Illoulian plans to preserve the historic Factory building, which is between Robertson and La Peer.

It will be dismantled and rebuilt on a different part of the site to make room for a 35-foot-wide paseo in the middle of the development.

One of the two hotel towers will cross four stories above the paseo, creating a canopy over the La Peer side of the project.

The development originally received some backlash for its plans to tear down the Factory building.

Since the building will now be preserved, residents who spoke at last Thursday's committee meeting offered their support. The West Hollywood Preservation Alliance is also in favor of the project.

Culver City's Hodgetts + Fung Design and Architecture is working on the project.

The developer will have to ask the City Council for a specific plan that allows for deviation from the site's zoning since the project exceeds the allowed height limitations.

The project’s final Environmental Impact Report is expected this August.
