Community Build Might Erect Homeless Housing On South LA Property
A South LA parking lot may soon make way for low-income housing aimed at the homeless.
The City of LA, which owns the property, may sign a long-term lease agreement or sell the property to the nonprofit Community Build Inc, thanks to a motion filed by LA Council member Marqueece Harris-Dawson.
Community Build could use financing to build a homeless housing project with 62 units on the property at 88th Street and Menlo Avenue, Urbanize LA reports.
The proposed project would have advantages for Community Build.
It, along with WORKs, would be able to apply for Low Income Housing Credits in July of next year through the LA Housing and Community Investment Department. [ULA]
