Meet NAI Capital's Chris Jackson and Jeremy Barbakow
NAI Capital just named Chris Jackson branch manager of its Encino office and elevated him to EVP. Yesterday, Chris told us one of his priorities will be to bring in younger, experienced brokers, in addition to more senior agents. Chris says the Encino market is tightening for office, industrial, retail and multifamily, and rental rates and sales prices are increasing. He'll continue to do deals, specializing in industrial leasing and investment. He and his partner Todd Lorber just sold a portfolio of six single-tenant industrial buildings totaling 430k-plus SF in Oxnard. When he's not working, Chris likes to spend time with family—wife Denise, and their girls Taylor (10, above) and Jordyn (5). They just got back from the Big Island of Hawaii.
Coming up, Chris and Todd will be marketing 27655 N Avenue Hopkins in Valencia, a 52k SF industrial/corporate HQ building, using the Auction.com platform. Chris says the auction process, which begins on Sept. 2 and ends on Sept. 4, is unique for the market up there.
Chris' colleague, SVP Jeremy Barbakow, tells us the San Fernando Valley's medical office sector is fired up. In three months, he's completed seven new leases and one renewal in the Encino/Tarzana submarket, including a second location for the Kagan Eye Institute, and closing in on a ninth deal. A combo of factors are helping, starting with doctors becoming more familiar with Obamacare. Physician groups are relocating to accommodate growth, but Jeremy's also seeing groups consolidate into one big location. In addition, he sees growing demand in the pediatrics and dermatology specialties. Jeremy's a classic car guy. (And a classic attire guy, as well.) So far, he's got three: a Jag, a Mercedes, and a Triumph.
