Firm Famous for Disaster Relief Leases in DTLA
Miyamoto International has inked a 11-year deal for nearly 10k SF on the 51st floor of the newly renovated 707 Wilshire Building in downtown. Colliers SVP Nathan Pellow, who repped Miyamoto, says the firm needed a larger space and wanted a higher profile location. The firm, which is best known for its earthquake mitigation efforts and its disaster relief, was previously located at 700 S Flower St. It's worked on relief efforts in Haiti, Thailand, New Zealand, China and Japan. It recently sent a team to Nepal in response to that country’s devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake and has personnel working there now.
The 62-story Aon Center was just picked up by Shorenstein in October for a reported $270M. Miyamoto's deal at the landmark building valued at about $4.6M. Colliers associate James Robbins also repped the tenant, and owner Shorenstein was repped by Tim Miller and Dana Vargas of JLL.
