LA Chart of the Week: What Are LA's Biggest Sectors?
While everyone knows that Hollywood's largest sector is the entertainment industry, but what are the sectors that have the largest share of jobs and define the identity of LA's other neighborhoods?
According to JLL Research, Downtown LA is LA's true political center, with over one-third of its jobs belonging to public administration. Santa Monica, on the other hand, is mainly comprised of tech firms, while El Segundo remains a industrial hub with both manufacturing and aerospace developments and proximity to the Ports and LAX.
The outlier of sorts is Venice, which was the birthplace of the LA technology boom, but now is a restaurant and retail hotspot due to tourism.
