Best Photograph of the Year
A pic of a night cleaning crew at One Bunker Hill in Downtown LA garnered the Americas prize in CBRE's 2014 Urban Photographer of the Year competition. The worldwide contest, themed Cities at Work, drew 11,500 entries from 79 countries and is the largest of its kind. This shot, called Buffer Zone (only a portion of which is shown here), was snapped by LA photog Johanna Siegmann, who specializes in architectural images. She calls the two-story, art deco lobby at One Bunker Hill one of the most beautiful in Downtown. It was completed in 1931 as the HQ of SoCal Edison, one of the first all-electric buildings in the Western US. Marius Vieth of Germany was named the global winner.
