Crystal Lofing Partner, Allen Matkins
Crystal Lofing and Tony Natsis repped Joint Treasure International in the $400M-plus sale of 9900 Wilshire Blvd, the former Robinsons-May site in Beverly Hills, to Dalian Wanda Group Co Ltd, China's largest commercial property company. Crystal (with husband Marc and 1-year-old Greyson) was elected into the partnership of the firm this past July (fun fact: she was the first Allen Matkins partner to have her partner interview while she was on maternity leave). Her practice focuses on capital transactions--think large-scale acquisitions and dispositions like the real estate component of the Dodgers sale--as well as leasing. A classically trained pianist before entering law school, Crystal knew she didn't want to be a litigator and "started out thinking that I would do entertainment law on the transactional side." However, an interest in business led her to real estate, offering the ability to work on tangible projects. "Each property is unique, so there are new and interesting problems to solve each day." After a stint with a firm in San Francisco, in 2007 Crystal joined Allen Matkins, where she says Tony, the firm's real estate department chair, was an early champion and continues to be a mentor and role model. Crystal was raised in Modesto but admits she's never seen hometown hero George Lucas' American Grafitti, which was set there, or Star Wars.
