Vicky Schiff Co-Managing Partner, Oro Capital Advisors
Vicky Schiff founded Oro Capital Advisors to create value for investors by investing in debt and distressed assets in target markets across the US. It's one of four companies that the serial entrepreneur has founded or co-founded through the years. Having grown up in a real estate family in Las Vegas, Vicky says that real estate is in her blood. Her late father, Jim Schiff, was a real estate developer who also was the contractor on Caesar's Palace and Circus Circus (as a kid, Vicky used to ride the merry-go-round there). Her first real estate job: Working as a tenant broker with Jerry Porter at Metrospace (now Cresa), which she says was excellent training. She also enjoyed working with Jack Mahoney at Summit Commercial. "We bought a lot of stuff really fast, and we were all dedicated." She advises young women who are just starting careers in commercial real estate to figure out what your natural talents are, and to just be yourself. "If you have an aptitude for numbers, that helps." What gets her up in the morning: Her 5-year-old son, Jake. Outside of work, Vicky meditates and does triathlons, including three this summer in Malibu, Santa Barbara and Playa del Rey.
