Anaheim And Long Beach To Be Among Proposed Olympic Venues
Orange County and Long Beach will have a front seat to the action if LA hosts the 2024 Olympics.
The LA 2024 Exploratory Committee announced more venues last week, including Anaheim's Honda Center, Long Beach’s Arena, Convention Center, Waterfront and Pier; and the Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades.
Olympic volleyball games would be hosted at the Honda Center, while Olympic golf competitions would take place at the Riviera Country Club, the Daily Breeze reports.
There would be an Olympic sports park on Long Beach's downtown waterfront, where three events would be hosted: marathon swimming, sailing and the triathlon.
BMX, team handball and water polo would be played at the Long Beach Arena and additional temporary facilities built on a nearby parking lot.
The new Inglewood stadium will probably be added to the list.
The Forum in Inglewood would also play a part, hosting gymnastics and similar competitions. Many of the events would take place in DTLA.
LA is competing against Paris and Budapest to host the games.
The next city to host the games will be selected by the International Olympic Committee on Sept. 13 of next year. [DB]
