The £1B Boost To Manchester's Economy You May Not Have Noticed
With a city booming in every direction, and more than 70 tower cranes looming over central Manchester, it is easy to lose track of individual schemes and their potential impact on the city.
A new arts and performance venue expected to deliver a £1B boost to Manchester's economy is now under construction, as revealing time-lapse images show.
Due to open in 2021, The Factory is designed by world-leading architects Office for Metropolitan Architecture, founded by Rem Koolhaas, and will be their first major public building in the UK.
The government has invested £78M in the scheme, which is intended to boost Manchester's reputation as a creative and digital hub.
As well as performances, it will also provide for training and learning new technical and creative industry skills.
The 143K SF Factory is in the St. John’s neighbourhood next to the River Irwell. It will also be at the heart of a burgeoning city centre hub for culture, creativity and digital innovation.
