Jaguar Land Rover Motors Into Manchester As TMT Occupiers Look North
Jaguar Land Rover are to open a software development centre in Manchester as the city prepares for a wave of corporate relocations.
JLR says the new software, IT and engineering centre in Manchester will support its strategy to introduce connected technologies in future vehicles. It will work alongside their Coventry research centre which is leading the work on electric vehicles, Business Desk reports.
The size of the JLR requirement is not clear, but it could herald a summer of tech and media corporate moves in the Manchester office market, according to Prolific North.
The Guardian Media Group have discounted suggestions they are looking for up to 35K SF of Manchester floorspace, but the media news-feed says that sources insist the Guardian is considering a back office move away from London's Kings Cross.
WPP and Sky Betting are also said to be looking closely at Manchester expansion.
