Botany Bay Plans To Join The Outlet Retail Race
Chorley Council officials are recommending approval of plans for a 300K SF Outlet Village at the Botany Bay site.
For many years Botany Bay was unique in being the only shopping centre to charge an entrance fee.
Local developer FI Real Estate Management will redevelop 89 acres along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal to create the new retail site along with 288 new homes.
In 1994 local businessman Tim Knowles bought and restored the mill, and reopened it in 1995. The original Victorian warehouse will be refurbished as part of the new plan.
FI Real Estate Management has owned and managed over 11.5M SF of commercial property over the past three decades.
Cheshire Oaks and the Lowry Outlet Mall in Salford dominate outlet retail in the North West, although the region north of Manchester is relatively poorly provided.
