The Race to Make Multifamily Rise

South Florida
Placeholder

Another day, another ceremony for an apartment development in South Florida. (We're starting to set our clocks to them.) Snapped this week at the recent topping out for phase II of Gables Ponce are the key players in the Coral Gables project: Behar Font & Partners architect Robert Behar, Gables Residential VP of construction Michael Brown, Facchina Construction of Florida superintendant Lewis Bowyer, Facchina construction project manager Modesto "Mo" Millo, Gables Residential director of development Sheldon Powell, MC Velar Construction VP Manny Velar, and Gables Residential project manager Gil Rodriguez. This phase is a 10-story addition adjacent to the successful phase I. (Side note: We recently profiled Gables CEO Sue Ansel in Real Estate Bisnow Dallas-Fort Worth. Read more here.)

Topping out's one thing, but why wait to celebrate when you can have a demolition party? (As long as we get to use the wrecking ball.) Snapped recently at Perfecto Gastropub in Brickell are Lisbeth Arellano, sales and marketing director for the property, and Cervera Real Estate's Alicia Lamadrid. They were there to celebrate the recent start of demolition at the future site Parc at Brickell, a 12-story condo building set to rise just west of Brickell Avenue overlooking Simpson Park. (It's slated for completion in early 2015.) Directly next door, demolition is already complete to make way for a 274-room hotel by Atton Hotels, which will be an added amenity to the West Brickell district upon its completion, also in '15.
