Lack Of Snowbirds Hurts Pompano Park
Pompano Park generated $179M in fiscal 2016, its parent company Isle of Capri recently reported. But Isle of Capri Casinos' Arnold Block say the Fort Lauderdale race track/casino's business was actually on the softer side. “Pompano experienced a softer snowbird season than in previous years. As the property moved out of the snowbird season late in the quarter, performance trajectory versus prior year began to improve,” Arnold reported during an analysts conference call. That said, it wasn't all bad. As Arnold pointed out: “Despite the struggles, Pompano still posted its second-best Q4 EBITDA results ever trailing over the prior year and best total fiscal year EBITDA results.” Aside from the racetrack, the 223-acre Pompano Park includes more than 1,400 slot machines, a 42-table poker room, bars and a number of restaurants, including Farraddays and Bragozzos.
