Healthcare Facilities Need to Update Soon
With a burgeoning South Florida population, the race is on to provide healthcare facilities that it'll demand. Many providers are planning to meet new need through expansion and renovations, Skanska USA Building EVP and general manager in Florida Fred Hames tells us.
Skanska just inked a $32.7M contract to lead a major renovation of Chris Evert Children’s Hospital at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. The renovation will cover 102k SF of inpatient and outpatient areas on several floors, adding features such as new private rooms for parents to remain with their children who are in critical care, pediatric and neonatal IC units, medical and surgical units, and more.
Leading the project’s design is architect ACAI Associates, with JLL as program manager. Renovation construction began this January, and is slated for completion in December '18. Skanska is already building a $47M expansion at Broward Health North.
