Frost Museum Tops Off Aquarium (Which Will Soon Have Sharks)
The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science topped off its Living Core Aquarium recently. The aquarium will house South Florida’s iconic terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems: the Everglades, Mangroves, the Florida Reef and the 500,000 gallon, three-story Gulf Stream Aquarium. The museum also reports that it's raised $103M toward its construction through donations, in addition to the $165M granted by the Miami-Dade County’s Building Better Communities Bond Program in 2004, putting funding near the $300M necessary. The museum will be finished next summer.
