LG Will Build Factory In Middle Tennessee
LG Electronics Inc. is planning to build a factory in Clarksville, Tenn., where the South Korean manufacturer will employ about 500 workers to build home appliances. The facility might be as large as 800k SF, the Tennessean reports.
LG's interest in Clarksville is the latest economic development coup for the city. Google is planning a $600M data center there (LG will probably locate its facility near that data center) and Hankook Tire America Corp. will start production this spring at its new 1.5M SF plant in Clarksville that will eventually employ 1,000 workers.
LG is one of the world's largest electronics companies, with 2015 global sales of $48.8B. LG comprises four business units ― home appliance & air solutions, mobile communications, home entertainment and vehicle components ― and is a major producer of flat-screen TVs, mobile devices, air conditioners, washing machines and refrigerators.
