Why Healthcare's Critical To Nashville's Economy
No matter how the election goes, healthcare's going to remain as contentious as ever. Here in Nashville, the direction of the industry is critical to the health of the local economy.
Anchor Health Properties SVP of development Mike Dossett tells us the challenges facing the healthcare industry in Nashville are much the same as in other competitive metropolitan cities throughout the country.
"The rising costs of overhead coupled with diminished reimbursements are putting pressure on health systems of all sizes," Mike says.
As a result, he says, health systems are searching for and developing strategies to create more access, not only by location but also extended hours, technology such as telemedicine, patient experience and affordability—essentially the retailing of healthcare—to help stay competitive.
"The issues that keeps healthcare executives up at night, I think, are how to stay adaptable and create an environment of timely decision-making while planning for the future as healthcare continues to evolve."
