Former Prison, Zoned For Industrial, Now On The Block
The State of Tennessee is selling the 119-acre former Charles Bass Correctional Complex at 7177 Cockrill Bend Blvd, which is within the Cockrill Bend Industrial Park off Centennial Boulevard. The state closed the 162k SF medium-security prison last year. Now it's asking for cash only for the site, which is zoned for industrial, the Tennessean reports.
The property borders the Cumberland River and isn't far from John C. Tune Airport, and the area features mostly warehouses and light industrial businesses. The 119-acre tract includes a 42-acre improved site that features the former prison, along with 77 acres of unimproved land. The state has owned the property since 1914. [Tennessean]
