Nashville Airport Plans Major Upgrades

Placeholder

The Metro Nashville Airport Authority unveiled its plan to upgrade the airport, which it called “BNA Vision.” It's an expensive vision, coming in at an estimated $1.2B. For that kind of scratch, the plan says, the airport will get new parking, more security lines, larger baggage claim and ticketing areas, bigger concourse space and a new hotel over the next five to seven years.

Airport Authority CEO Rob Wigington says the improvements are necessary to keep up with the overall growth of metro Nashville. By 2035, the population is expected to surpass 2.5 million, and Nashville International Airport’s passenger traffic will grow from 12 million now to more than 20 million, the Tennessean reports.

One of the first projects is a new parking garage, which is already underway, and which will add 2,000 parking spaces. It should be completed by fall 2018. [Tennessean]
