Update: SoBro Tower Gets Go-Ahead
Boston-based The Congress Group and Michigan-based Northern Capital Investments got the Metro Planning Commission votes (7-1) to proceed with their tall tower in SoBro, but that leaves opponents of the development mulling lawsuits to stop it. The proposal includes two towers with a total of 420 condos and apartments, with a smaller hotel building in between, all on about 1.6 acres at 151 First Ave S.
Critics of the development cite potential traffic woes and the blockage of sunlight in the neighborhood, among other things, the Nashville Business Journal reports. At 40 stories, the property is 10 stories higher than city planning theoretically allows; the vote last week was to make an exception for the property. [NBJ]
