Hindu Temple Planned For South Nashville
The International Swaminarayan Satsang Org, which has 19 temples nationwide, wants to develop one in South Nashville. Recently, the organization put in a request for a special exception to allow it to build a 500-seat temple on 5.8 acres at 355 Haywood Lane, which is a residential-zoned area. The Metro Board of Zoning Appeals will consider the request early next month, the Tennessean reports.
The request isn't unprecedented. Last year, the board granted Agape Mission Church a special exception to build a 7,400 SF sanctuary at 331 Haywood Lane. The site is part of 92 acres rezoned in 2015 to a low-density residential category that allows for single-family houses on a minimum 40k SF lot.
